Morag Kelly

Meet Morag, Business Adviser (Scotland)

Morag is a self-confessed terrible waitress but utterly brilliant Business Adviser.

Morag has been helping Transmit Startups to support entrepreneurs in Scotland for the past four years. With a background in business and finance, and a passion for self-employment, Morag is the ideal person to guide Start Up Loan applicants to success.

She says 'I have a real passion for helping people get started up in business.  I consider myself lucky to be involved in even the tiniest part their journey.'

Morag started work at 15, first in a haberdashery shop and then as a hotel receptionist. It was working at the hotel where Morag first became aware of her interest in small business management (and her lack of interest in waitressing!)

A Bachelor's degree in Economics and Politics let Morag indulge her academic interests before she moved into the financial sector, working as a pensions technician. After seven years, she returned to university and gained a Postgraduate Diploma in Careers Guidance.

This was the start of Morag's love affair with business advice. She spent eight years supporting local people back to work and self-employment, before starting her own company providing business and personal support.

With a winning combination of business expertise, personal experience of starting a business, and training as a guidance counsellor, Transmit was delighted to snap Morag up when she applied to work with us.
