We’re welcoming Steven and Roni of Blue Bandit Media today, into the Transmit Start-Up fold, where we ask them all about their first year or so into business, post their successful application for a Start-Up loan. Blue Bandit Media is a video production company with a difference, offering a bespoke service that can perfectly mirror a brand’s message. Working as a husband and wife team, they have both passionately worked in video production since their teenage years, fine-tuning their skills to create unique videos that will supercharge promotions and maximise on budgets! Here are the answers from Steven and Roni in reply to our ‘One Year On’ series questions…
We’re a husband and wife video production team and we wanted to push on and make it financially viable to spend more time working in Blue Bandit Media. Taking out a Start Up Loan allowed us to stop working in day jobs full time, and we saw the benefits straight away. We chose a Start Up Loan as it meant we would keep 100% control of the business, and also the support offered in writing a business plan really helped in not only getting the loan, but also in making us think about the business long term.
The project that stands out the most for us was a series of videos we produced for activity centre Fury Events. We produced 5 videos which featured quad biking, buggy racing and clay pigeon shooting, and those videos now have over a quarter of a million views. We often cite it as an example of how video can be used for social media marketing, and most importantly it had a massive, positive effect on Fury Event’s sales.
Ask a lot of qualifying questions of potential clients before committing to a meeting. Whether that be over email or on the phone. It’s amazing how many times you’ll go for coffee with someone who says they’re interested in your services, and come away knowing they’re not really serious, and you’ve just wasted an afternoon.
We would recommend a Transmit loan as the application process was easy to work through, and made us think about our business differently. It also gave us confidence in that, other people believed in our business and thought that it could be a success.
